Tena koutou Ngati Konohi whanau whanui - Nga mihi o te tau hou!
For the past 10 years, successive Paikea Whitireia Trust trustees, with the unrelenting support of Ngati Konohi whanau, have worked tirelessly to maintain and restore our marae. Recent projects have seen the restoration of our wharenui Whitireia and Waho-te Rangi; the wharekarakia - Patoromu and the new ablution block. Our next major project is the restoration of our wharekai – Te Hokowhitu.
We need your support to make this happen as the restoration of our wharekai is now urgent! We have leaks during bad weather and the floor is in need of immediate repair - as we are now doing “patch ups on the ‘patch ups’. These hazards are starting to pose serious risks to our whanau and manuhiri who use the marae.
Where are we at?
The trustees have made application for funding - but to secure this we need to raise $150,000.00 – being one third (1/3) of the total amount required. Until then we are unable to move forward with the restoration. To date the trust are doing their best to maintain our marae – and any extras (where possible) are channeled to the restoration of our wharekai, Te Hokowhitu. However, we do not generate enough “extra income” and the leaks and patch-ups continue to get bigger!
What are we asking for?
Ngati Konohi we need your help to raise our target of $150,000.00!
We are asking for a koha from the whanau whanui - as your contribution will see us reach this target sooner rather than later. If you would like to contribute – refer to the Paikea Whitireia Trust (PWT) - bank account details on page 2. Be assured that names and amounts will be kept confidential and the trust will also issue any receipts or acknowledgments where requested. In this instance we ask that you supply your contact details to us. (*See PWT contact details below)
